 The UMW mission emphasis for May and June
 is the Baby Basics Closet.  

There is always a waiting list for car seats and cribs, and of course diapers and wipes disappear fast.  Thanks to people like you the Baby Basics Closet has aided over 400 families with over 3.500 items!  Please leave any donations in the box in the Narthex.  Thank you!

 

The Baby Basics Closet is a program which provides at no charge, maternity clothes and children's clothes, age birth to two, and every kind of baby supply, such as diapers, toys, etc, to low income families in the High Point area through the YWCA on Glenwood Avenue.  Types of items needed:

Cribs, bassinets & port-a-cribs
Crib sheets, blankets & quilts
Car seats & strollers
High chairs and playpens
Baby food, Bottles, nipples and pacifiers
Maternity clothes, books, toys and rattles
Disposable diapers, wipes, rash cream & lotions
Formula (especially Enfamil with iron & soy-based formula)
Thermometers, outlet protectors
Infant clothes up to size 4T (newborn outfits are in great demand)

What St. John's UMW does.

 

Nine months of the year our Circles feed the Methodist Men at their monthly meetings. 

We feed the Youth supper once a month, and furnish snacks for the nursery. 

 We contribute monies for our Youth to attend Christian camps during the summer.  

Honor our graduates in the Spring. During exams we furnish our college students "goodie bags" to let them know we love them and encourage them. 

 Either a Woman's Day Service or Children's Sunday is scheduled each year.  

We send delegates to Lake Junaluska to Annual Conference and a Special Enrichment week-end.  

We honor a lady or ladies with a Special Membership Pin for their contributions of service to our Church & UMW.  

Every year our men, women and youth work together providing a Bazaar and/or Yard sale to earn monies for Missions.

 

AND, one of the highlights of the year comes in November when Teen Challenge is invited to join us for a covered dish dinner furnished by our ladies.

 

We are an active organization and invite all ladies of St. John's to join a Circle and join in the fun of working with God to make this a better world, community and church.
