The Affirmation of Faith

I believe in God the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead, and buried;

the third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven,

and siteth at the right hand of
  God the Father Almighty;

from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the
holy catholic church,

the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen

The holy catholic church, is a reference to the world wide

or universal church which is the

Holy body of Jesus Christ
on this earth at this time.

It does not specifically refer only
 to the Catholic Faith

nor Catholic Church, but all Christian Faiths

nor then, does it exclude them either.

*Originally catholic (lower-case) meaning the church universal, the Body of Christ, and is accepted by Protestants and Roman Catholics.

The use of the term "catholic" can cause confusion. The word catholic, with the lowercase "c", means "universal". So the catholic church referred to in the creed is the one universal church represented by the body of Christ. It is the body of believers.

Here are some scriptures which cast light on this
universal body of believers.
